"Enter the "Zone," a dimensional realm where mythical and mystical battles are fought between wild beings, and journey to become a tournament champion in the Duel Masters TCG!"
Brought to you by the same people who brought you the popular card games Magic: The Gathering, Pokemon, Harry Potter, Star Wars TCG, and more, the Duel Masters TCG currently occupies the #1 spot in toys and games in Japan and has for the past eight months. The term "kaijudo" (which is based on the Japanese word "kaiju" or monster) is used to describe the "way" of battling monsters.
In the Duel Masters TCG, there are five types of cards: Light, Dark, Fire, Water, and Nature. Each type has it's own strengths and weaknesses:
Light includes celestial guardians and high tech "Starlight trees". Light's strength is in it's defense(many blockers), and weakness is in power and somewhat speed.
Darkness includes demons, ghosts, parasites, and all things undead. Darkness excels in discarding cards from enemy hands and blowing stuff up, while has trouble with development speed and against control decks.
Fire includes armored dragons and robot-like humanoids; Fire's strength is in it's cheap, efficient creatures, including many power attackers, while it's weaknesses are in blocking(no fire blockers to speak of).
Water includes leviathans, cyberlords, and "liquid people". Water's strengths are in card-drawing and unblockable creatures, and it's weakness is in attack strength(low attack strength to cost ratio).
Nature includes beast folk, man-eating plants, and killer insects. Nature's strength is in acceleration and large double breaker creatures, and it's weaknesses are in blocking.
One little known fact about Duel Masters is that, though it debuted in Japan in 2002, it was actually designed by Wizards of the Coast's top game designers in the United States.
